*Please send in the picture envelopes on Friday.*

In Language Arts, the students have been learning important reading strategies. These strategies will help your child become a better reader. The strategies should be practiced with any book that is interesting to read. Ask your child about…Check for Understanding-this is when we stop reading after a few pages and try to remember what we have read so far. If we are not sure then we Back Up and Reread. Cross Checking for Accuracy is when we come upon a word that we are not sure of, after we attempt to sound it out, we ask ourselves, (1) Does is look right? (2) Does it sound right? (3) Does it make sense?

What’s New…Find, read and use interesting words to Expand our Vocabulary. Just as it states, we are looking for words that will expand our vocabulary.

Math, we will be continuing to find new ways to think about addition. We will be making 9, adding parts to make a whole, adding numbers in any order and solving story problems. Please discuss the topic and examine any errors on the pages that come home in the Take-Home Folder. Look for more vocabulary cards to come home. Keep them until we come to the end of the unit. I will let you know when we are there. Thank you for your cooperation.

Our Science lessons will focus on using our senses and learning what a scientist does. Vocabulary cards might be sent home but it will depend on what we complete.

I hope you have a fantastic week!
