This Week's Happenings

5/19/14
Monday: Day 5 > Art Class
Tuesday: Day 1 > Music Class
Wednesday: Day 2 > Phys. Ed.
Thursday: Day 3 > Library Class
Friday: No Day >>>CARNIVAL – Please watch the weather and dress appropriately. If it is sunny, apply sunscreen before school, send in a hat or sunglasses.

The Hard Cover Reader will be coming home during the week. Read any story from the book with your child. Reading with fluency, accuracy and comprehension should be almost automatic at this time. Keep up the great work you all have been doing at home. It is really paying off in the classroom!

Phonics Lessons this week will be Digraphs kn, gn and wr also, Trigraph tch. The homework will be reading the words on the front and back, as well as completing the back. (We will be coding the words in class on the front.) For 112, have your child write at least 3 good sentences. For 112, make sure the answer to questions 1 and 4 are in sentence form. Thank you for your cooperation.

Any Decodable Books that come home from this point forward can be kept at home. This will not be an official homework assignment. Of course it will always benefit your child to read them together.

In Math, we will continue to work on two different topics. The pages that come home can be used as a good review. Anything we have worked on this school year will be a building block of what is to come in second grade.
Flash Cards! If you have the flash cards that were brought home earlier this school year, please practice them. If you are unable to locate the cards, review addition problems such as, any number +9, any number +8 and any number +7. The children know the doubles facts very well! Thank you for your support and cooperation.

I hope you have a tremendous week!

*Tuesday will be Day 4 – Computer Class.*
