A Decodable Reader will be sent home on Wednesday. Please listen to your student read this several times until it becomes fluent. Sign the book and send it back.

Review the vocabulary words in the blue notebook. New words will be added on Thursday. During the week I will be asking the children to read the last set of words to me.

Keep working on our reading strategies. As you listen to your child read, use the paper that was sent home to review these strategies.

Math…Unit 5 has begun. Geometry and Fractions will be our topic. This week we will be introduced to shapes and their attributes.

Thursday will be the 100th day of school. Look for our awesome necklaces!

Thursday will be the listening comprehension test. Just like the last assessment, I will give the students time to read the story on their own and complete the questions. Then I will read it out loud. The students will need to read the questions on their own. (I decided to read the story instead of the questions.) I will assist with any words that are not known.

Review the vocabulary words in the blue notebook. These words will be on the comprehension test so it is important that the children are able to read these words without any difficulty.

Keep working on our reading strategies. As you listen to your child read, use the paper that was sent home to review these strategies.

A new set of vocabulary words will be written in the blue notebook on Thursday.

The comprehension test the students took last week will be the last time I read the story to them. It will be their responsibility to read the story part of the test and I will read the questions. To help your children with this important comprehension skill, ask them to read a page in a book and then ask them some questions about it.

Keep working on our reading strategies. As you listen to your child read, use the paper that was sent home to review these strategies.

In Language Arts……We will be assessing listening comprehension and phonics skills of short e and blends this week. I will give the students time to read the comprehension story independently. Please review the vocabulary words in the blue notebook. I will be listening to the students read the last set of words this week. If there is an index card stapled to the front cover, please practice these as well.

Keep working on our reading strategies. As you listen to your child read, use the paper that was sent home to review these strategies.

Math…We dove into Unit 4 last week. Some of the skills we will be building are expanded form, numbers to 120, place value, tens and ones and greater than/less than. Any pages that come home are yours to keep.

Missing numbers in Spring Math is our current skill. The students have really been doing well and gaining points.
