Tuesday: Day 2 > Phys. Ed.
Wednesday: No Day > The children will participate in Jump Rope for Heart! PLEASE WEAR SNEAKERS!
Thursday: Day 3 > Library Book Exchange
Friday: Day 4 > Computer Class Valentine’s Day Party

Suffixes (-less, -ness, -ly), digraphs ai and ay (long a) are the new concepts in phonics for this week. For homework, you will listen to the children read the words on the front and the words in the box on the back. Remember to sign the paper after you hear the words. We will complete the back in class.

The Reading book will come home. The students should read "Who Works Here?". We have been discussing Author’s Purpose. Ask your child the Author’s Purpose with any stories you read. The two reasons we have learned are to inform and to entertain.

There will not be a new Spelling List this week. Please review the words for the test in their notebooks. I am sending these home in case you can not find the list from last week. The Spelling tests will be sent home from now on. Look over any misspelled words. These do not need to be returned.

A Decodable Reader will come home to be read for homework this week. It will be in the green folder. Have the children read this to you and then ask them a few questions about it.

Assessing Topic 7 this week if all goes well! Look for the pages to review. Most children are not having any difficulty with these skills.

Please send in your Valentines by Friday. HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

Travis, Skylar and Meaghan did a great job! This week our readers are Kolton and Makenzi.

I hope you have a fabulous week!

We are going back to the way we did Phonics homework… You will listen to the children read the words on the front and the words in the box on the back. Sorry for changing it around again. Subtraction to 20 was assessed today. You will only see a copy of the test if your child had significant errors. Otherwise, I will keep this in my file.

Topic 7 Counting and Number Patterns to 120 begins this week. Just like the first six topics, the pages will come home as we complete them. Please review these with your child.

Report cards should be in the large envelope in your child’s bookbag. You may keep the card and all of the test papers inside. Please sign the front sheet and return just the envelope to school tomorrow. Thank you for your cooperation.

Rylee, Aria and Gavin read to the class beautifully last week! Veronica, Fabrizio and Brooke will be reading this week.
