This Week's Happenings


3/25/19

Monday: Day 1 > Keyboarding
Tuesday: Day 2 > Phys. Ed. SPRING PICTURES
Wednesday: Day 3 > Music
Thursday: Day 4 > Computers
Friday: Day 5 > Art

In Language Arts… Keep reviewing the vocabulary words in the blue notebook. I’ll me listening to the last set of words that was written in the notebook.

Spelling pretest was given today. If your child has a Homework paper in his/her green notebook, the written homework is to write any misspelled words 3 times each. Homework will be Monday-Thursday.

Continue working on reading comprehension. After your child reads a story or chapter, ask some questions about what was read.

Remember, when listening to your child read, use the strategies that we have been working on in school. Refer to the page sent home.


Math…Please review the flashcards in the envelope. Return the Flashcard Envelopes each day.

Unit 6 is Time and Measurement. We have been telling time to the hour and half hour. Ask your children to tell you these times. Measurement will begin on Wednesday. We will be measuring with non-standard units, such as cubes, paper clips and pennies.

The PTO Chinese Auction donations are due April 12. The theme of our basket is Gardening. If you would rather send in a monetary donation, I will shop for items.

Our Field Trip is on April 2. Please look for the information sheet that will come home this week.

-Homework is to read any book your child is interested in every day and then add it to your reading log.

The final Spelling test will be on Thursday. Please review the words if your child is taking the test.

Continue working on reading comprehension. After your child reads a story or chapter, ask some questions about what was read.

The comprehension test that will be given on Friday will be read independently. If the results are as good as the practice test, then this one will count.

Remember, when listening to your child read, use the strategies that we have been working on in school. Refer to the page sent home.

Unit 6 is winding down. We will be measuring this week and begin our review. Continue to practice telling time.

In Language Arts… Keep reviewing the vocabulary words in the blue notebook.

Decodable readers are homework for Tuesday. Listen to your child read this to you until they have fluency. They should be able to read the whole story without sounding out the words or making errors.

Spelling test will be Wednesday. Please review the list if your child is taking the test.

Continue working on reading comprehension. After your child reads a story or chapter, ask some questions about what was read.

The students will be responsible to complete the comprehension tests independently in the fourth marking period. They will be reading everything by themselves.

Unit 5 Geometry has come to an end. We will be assessing this week. The skills and concepts to review are shapes, solids, fractions and addition facts.

Decodable Reader will be sent home on Tuesday. Please listen to your child read this several times until fluency is reached, which means read smoothly without any errors or hesitations. If HOMEWORK is written on the front, please sign and return.
