This Week's Happenings

2/23/15

Monday: Day 3 > Library Class
Tuesday: Day 4 > Computer Class
Wednesday: Day 5 > Art Class
Thursday: Day 1 > Music Class
Friday: Day 2 > Phys. Ed.

Friday Folders are coming home today due to running out of time on Friday. Please review, sign test papers, sign back of folder and send it to school tomorrow.

The Decodable Reader “The King Sings a Song” will be homework for Thursday. Read and sign the back. Don’t forget to read this until there are no mistakes.

We are still in Topic 7. Any math pages that come home are to be checked and errors corrected if necessary. Skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s is another concept covered.

Even though our main focus will not be addition or subtraction in math, we will continue to review our facts. Please keep drilling these!

On Wednesday we will have Brainshow Mania and Friday students from Bloomsburg University will come in to present a lesson for Dr. Seuss’s birthday.

Continue to review all pages in the Friday Folder, sign and return any tests that are stamped. These tests are very important to review and return.
Also, sign and date the back page of the Folder.

Please keep reading every day. Reading is a homework assignment that all children should be completing each night. Remember to write the books you read on the Reading Log (in the plastic sleeve). Sign and return the page when complete and another one will be sent home.

I hope you have a remarkable week!

Spelling pretest was taken last week but is coming home today. Please review these words for the final test which will be next week!

The reading book will not be coming home at all this week. On Thursday, the decodable book that is brought home should be read several times until your child has no errors. He/She should not have to sound out words. Our goal is accuracy and fluency with these books. Sign and return it on Friday.

Friday is the 100th day of school for this year! We will not be dressing up or completing projects at home, like kindergarten, but we will be doing some activities in class.

Topic 6 will be finished this week. The reteaching page will be coming home on Thursday. Our assessment will not be until Monday, the 9th. Review the concepts on this paper along with the pages that come home during the week.

It is very apparent that some students are not reviewing the math facts. Please drill the facts in their envelope two or three times each week. Please disregard if your child has most of the facts memorized, but there are so few that do, I had to write it for all to see.
