Wednesday: Day 5 > Library Class
Thursday: Day 6 > Art Class
Friday: No School

The new spelling list is in the TAN notebook today. If your child brought it home, please review it for the test next week. As of now, it will be Tuesday. Last week’s list on –ly and –ful were difficult for some students. Due to the low grades, there will be homework this week, writing any misspelled words 3 times each. This will begin today and continue each night until the test.

The second Reading Fluency check will be sent home in the Friday Folder. If your child did not reach the 47 word goal on either check, there will be many more chances to come. Keep Reading!

Continue to review the vocabulary words in the BLUE notebook. We now have all of the Book 4 words. I will begin listening to the children read them to me this week.

On Thursday, a decodable reader will be sent home. Read this several times for fluency. Sign and send it back on Monday if your child is one of the students who read it to me.

Our new math topic is on time. We will be telling time to the hour and half hour. Review all of the pages that come home.

Keep working on addition facts. Use the flashcards to gain fluency. We completed a 46 problem page last week. The students had 2 minutes and there were 4 children who reached the goal! Concentrate on the facts with sums to 9.

Don’t Forget! Your child should be reading all stories to you. This is considered HOMEWORK every single day. After reading the book, add it to the Reading Log. When listening to your child read, remember to use those strategies that we have worked on since the start of the school year.

**Review Friday Folder material, sign the page and return on Monday.**

I hope you have a first-rate week!

On Thursday, a decodable reader will be sent home. Please read it with your child a few times for fluency. Some students must get this signed and return it to read to me. It is important to practice so that the children do not need to sound out any words.
There should not be any hesitation when reading. You may add it to the Reading Log.

A reading fluency check was sent home on Friday. Remember, 47 words correct in a minute is the goal. There will be another fluency check next week.

Keep reviewing the vocabulary words in the BLUE notebook. The new words will be written on Tuesday. We are coming to the end of Book 4, so next week I will begin listening to the children read them to me.

Math test on Topic 12 will be on Thursday. The reteaching page will come home on Wednesday. Please review this to prepare for the test. The children are measuring using rulers.

Keep working on addition facts. Use the flashcards to gain fluency.

If you did not already hand in your Reading Log for March, tomorrow is the due date.

Don’t Forget! Your child should be reading all stories to you. This is considered HOMEWORK every single day. After reading the book, add it to the Reading Log. When listening to your child read, remember to use those strategies that we have worked on since the start of the school year. Reading fluency will be graded in the last trimester. Practicing reading stories and books on their level will prepare them for this.
