This Week's Happenings

4/18/16

Monday: Day 5 > Library Class
Tuesday: Day 6 > Art Class
Wednesday: Day 7 > Phys. Ed.
Thursday: Day 8 > Music Class
Friday: Day 9 > Computer Class

There will be a Decodable Reader to read today called “The Gift”. This should be read several times so that the children do not need to sound out any words. Therefore, they will achieve appropriate fluency.

Review the spelling words in the green notebook. The test is Wednesday. New words will be coming home on Thursday.

Read “A Southern Ranch” with your child Tuesday.

The comprehension and written tests will be on Wednesday.

Remember to review the words in the blue notebook. These words should be read on sight. They should not have to be sounded out.

Topic 13 will be ending this week. Please practice telling time to the hour and half hour with your child. The assessment will be on Thursday.
Look for the review page in the take-home folder on Wednesday.

Topic 14 is Using Data to Answer Questions, this will begin on Friday.

Addition facts up to 9 should be memorized. This will not happen unless they are practiced at home. There are very few children who are able to give answers on sight. In second grade it is very helpful if the children do not need to take the time to figure out the addition problems. Thanks for your cooperation.

Homework is always to read every night with your child.

-Don’t forget that our room is chilly at times. Please send in a jacket, sweatshirt or sweater WITHOUT a hood. Even though the temperatures are slowly rising outside, our room’s temperature does not.

-We will be going outside for recess unless it is raining or below 40 degrees so send your son/daughter with weather appropriate clothing.

**Review Friday Folder material. Sign the back page and return on Monday. **

I hope you have an extraordinary week!

Monday (4/25) will be Day 10 > Guidance Class
