In Language Arts… Keep reviewing the vocabulary words in the green notebook. This week we will add our 4th set of words for book 2.

For spelling, the final test on today’s words will be on Friday. Beginning with this list, if your child brought home his/her Spelling notebook, he/she will have written homework. Every misspelled word on the pre-test must be written 3 times each for every day before the test. This will be a total of 4 nights of homework. Look for the Spelling Notebook, it is tan with red spiral binding.

A decodable reader will come home on Thursday. Please listen to your child read it. He/she should be able to sound out all words in the book.

Remember, when listening to your child read, use the strategies that we have been working on in school. Refer to the page sent home.

Math…Topic 4 - We are adding and subtracting this week. Adding Doubles and Near Doubles along with Subtraction that begins with 0, 1, 2. Many different strategies will be introduced. Look for math flashcards in the take-home folders this week. We will add to these as the weeks go on, please review so the facts become memorized.

I am so disappointed in the amount of students who did not turn in an October reading log. I try to stress to the students that reading is very important. It is homework every day. There really should not be anyone who is unable to read 15 books in a month. Please impress upon your children to read each night. This will only make them stronger readers.

-Homework is to read any book your child is interested in every day and then add it to your reading log.

Please sign and date the page on the back of the Friday Folder, thank you!

I hope you have a splendid week!

Monday (11/13) will be Day 3 > Music Class
